After a two years small break, Kalamata needed to have their sweet Street Festival back again in the railway park. This year, there were lots of special shows, workshops, exhibitions and most importantly; Full of good music, again.
KANE did a great job with its local and international volunteers to make everything in order and as planned in time. Every people helping on the festival, they have put their extreme effort and self devotion as best as they can to improve the joyful environment.
Although, at the beginning, it does’t seem look like park will turn into somewhere convenient, but after first day morning, with great collaboration, it started turning into a complete festival area.
We were working and of-course we had lots of fun!
And after chaos cleared up a little bit…
It started turning into something intriguing…
Just before the big first night, everything was ready. And we started waiting for the excited visitors!
In this years program, on 28th July // Rock Day I, night has started with “Sun, Rain in Life” and “Frozen Path” to heat up the audience for “Sleepin’ Pillow”.
Next day on 29th of July // Dub-Reggae Day, we have known that we will have so much fun, and dance until the end. “Fundracar”, “Fish Himself” and especially “Balkan Riddims” made it perfectly happen.
3rd day on 30rd of July // Rock Day II, obviously, was the one the most expected day of the festival. Until “Last Drive” , “Grannies’ Stolen Pills”, “Mr. Booze” , “Kalamata” and with the best old rock classics which carried us back to 70’s “George Gakis & Troublemakers” performed on the stage.
And with “Last Drive” visitors reached to the top level in the park.
No matter we wanted to last the festival forever, everything has to reach to its end (only until the next one! ) In the last day of the festival on 31st of July // Balkan Music Day, everybody was determined to dance all night and close the festival as it deserves. “BAiLdSA”, with the amazing circus shows “The Halay Lamba Banda” with “Circus Entertainment” and “Βασίλης Ράλλης” with trompets!
Beside amazing music, there were many sideshows, exibitions, workshops, bazaar, basketball, graffiti, face painting for children (actually for everybody who wishes to have one! ) meanwhile people having fun times with good music…
9th Kalamata Street Festival has finished its mission to get Kalamata people heat up, entertain and stuff their memories with full of joy and cultural awareness, until next year!
Wish to see everybody next year and build up this spirit all together again!
Until that time, enjoy the after-event video and don’t forget about it !
